Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: From Kathgodam to Lohajung

Distance: 215 kms

Once you’re at kathgodam, it will take around 8-10 hours to reach Lohajung. So, we suggest you reach Kathgodam by 7am so that the drive to Kathgodam is not hassled.

For money matters, you may take the risk of trusting the last ATM at Deval or be a little cautious and choose ATMs at Gwaldam. We also recommend buying necessary medicines from Gwaldam and Deval. (in case, you’ve missed out any while packing. From Deval, you’ll just take an hour to reach Lohajung, where scenery of splendid views like Nandaghunti is waiting for you, if you reach before it darkens.

Day 2: From Lohajung to Bekaltal.

Altitude: 2,320 m to 3,010 m (6 km)
Time : 4-5 hours

Moving on, your visual guides would be the water pipes that supply water to Lohajung. Next comes Budla, a cluster of a few homes, which are usually lined with Rhododendron trees. If you choose to trek in Feb or March, you’ll spot these trees in full bloom.

As you reach approx 2590 metres, you’ll cross link-gaad, a 10 metre bridge that helps trekkers cross the stream. Its best to take a breather at Begum, a beautiful location that offers splendid views of Navali Bugyal. The views will definitely relieve you off the tiredness.

Once you leave Begum, it should take you just 10-15 minutes before you reach another stream and another hours walk will bring you to Gujrani stream. Just walk for 70 minute more and you’ll reach Bekaltal. The beauty of this trek can’t be described in words. Amidst thick oak forests, the lake gleams peacefully in summer, while in winter, it is frozen. Our Day 2 ends at camping near a beautiful lake, Khopdaliya.

Day 3: Bekaltal to Khabekhal (or Brahmatal).

Altitude: 3,010 m to 3,273 m (2.5km)
Time : 3-4 hours

In the Himalayas, weather decides your trail and campsites. Today, you may decide to trek till the serence Brahmtal lake or camp at Khabekhal. In case of snow showers, you might take 3-4 hours to reach Khabekhal.

When you begin at Bekaltal for Khabekhal, you will pass by a forest of oak trees for a prolonged one hour. The walk will take you to Telandi. If Khabekhal is your destination, continue walking and take a trail that descends towards right. Landmark: a house without any roof.
Day 4: Khabekhal to Daldum via Brahmatal Peak (3,846 m).

Altitude: 3,270 to 2,850 m
Time : 7 hours, 5 km

This day, choose to climb to Brahmtal. You may choose to carry your daypack or your back pack and return to the campsite at Daldum. A trek of almost an hour will take you to Chota Jhandidar. Pass through Choda and Bada Jhandidar to reach Brahmtal. It’s a curvy trail sandwiched between valleys on either side. 2.5 to 3 hours is all you need to reach Brahmtal top. En route, don’t miss out on the splendour of the mighty Himalayas, esp. Mt. Trishul and Nandaghunti. Clear skies will let you indulge in a fascinating view of the Himalayas. Daldum, the campsite for the day is just 3 hours away from the peak, with a trail passing through forests.

Day 5: From Daldum to Lohajung.

Altitude: 2,850 m to 2,325 m
Time : 2.5 hours, 3.7 km

Nighful rest at the Daldum campsite, laden with trees will energise you for the descend of the day. Lohajung is just 3.7kms and approx 2.5hours away. You’ll reach Malling in half an hour, after you exit the forests. You’ll spot a few houses of the villages on the slopes. Just follow the stone trail made by the frequent visits of villagers and you’ll reach Lohajung.

Day 6: From Lohajung to Kathgodam

Depart from Lohajung to Kathgodam.

  • Food during transit is not included (to and from the base camp)
  • Backpack offloading charges – .Charges are additional for offloading last minute, on slope. The backpack cannot weigh more than 9 kgs. No suitcases/strolleys/duffel bags will be allowed.
  • Transport from  Kathgodam  to Lohajung  & back to Kathgodam.. 
  • Personal expenses of any kind
  • Anything apart from the inclusions.

Terms & Conditions

 

The trek fee includes all costs of the trek from the start of the trek at Lohagunj to the end of the trek at Lohagunj

Backpack carrying: We expect all trekkers to carry their own backpacks

Any modifications in the afforesaid itinerary is chargable unless the trek lead opts to do so due to an emergency 

ON SPOT OFFLOADING If for some reason a trekker is unable to carry his or her backpack, while on the trek  then he/she can offload the same by paying an additional charge. as per charged by the porter to be hired on spot.Partial offloading is not allowed. Charges will vary for last minute te on slope offloading rom each of the trekkers.The backpack cannot weigh more than 9 kgs. No suitcases/strolleys/duffel bags will be allowed.

 Fitness: A high altitude trek in the Himalayas requires considerable fitness.

Payment: Payment for the trek can be done online throughcredit/debit card or net banking. Cheque/draft or cash is not accepted. Payment can be done only after you have received an email confirming your position on the trek.

For any climatic changes or  unavoidable circumstances a buffer day may be provided. A minimal on spot fee would be collected

The transport is arranged in shared cabs. Transport from Kathgodam to Lohargunj and return from Lohargunj to Kathgodam can be arranged by us at an extra cost .Participants are expected to share the cost likewise.. We only arrange the vehicle pick up and drop.Hence we are not responsible for any issues during transport.

Drop out during trek: If for any reason a participant has to drop out from the trek on any day then we will  make arrangements for his/her return to the nearest road head. A staff will accompany the participant to the nearest road head.

 Non-liability: We are not responsible for any loss/damage of your gears/equipment or other belongings on the trek.

 


Drinking alchohol or any form of intoxication during the trek is strictly prohibited. If found flouting the rules, your participation on the trek will be cancelled with immediate effect.

Documents required:

  • 2 photocopy of photo id proof (Voter Icard, Passport, Adhaar card) .Carry the original ID while coming for the trek
  •   2 copy  pass port size photographThe cancellation charges are as under:
  • Cancellation before  20days to the start of the trek  – 75 % refund
  • Cancellation between 20days – 10days to the start of the trek —50% refund.
  • Cancellation between 10days – 3days to the start of the trek – 25%refund
  • Cancellation less than 3 days to the start of the trek — no refund.
